Denuvo’s anti-piracy software is more and more often the source of game industry drama, and many independent projects (such as Rime ) are opting to ditch it altogether. In yet another piece of interesting Hitman news, IO Interactive has rolled out a new patch for its flagship game, fixing issues, adding features, and surprisingly doing away with Denuvo.
Among items such as bug fixes and localization adjustments, IO Interactive has added an in-game hint function to make things a little more comfortable for new players. It has also tweaked menu design across the game to make it more consistent. Not listed in the patch notes but noted by DSO Gaming, Denuvo has also quietly vanished from the equation.
DSO Gaming points out in its report that while this could be a result of Hitman and IO Interactive going independent, this would not be the first time a game’s patch has removed Denuvo for one reason or another, only for it to quietly come back in a subsequent update.
Previously, Denuvo was in the news for causing trouble with Rime , as its security check-ins were severely impacting that game’s general performance.
