New TV Programing Coming To Xbox One

New TV Programing Coming To Xbox One

In their attempt to brand themselves as THE “must-have” media hub on the video game market, Microsoft has recently announced a new line of up TV content coming to Xbox Live.

Nancy Tellem and Jordan Levin (Xbox Entertainment Studios President and Vice President respectively) recently held a press conference and talked a little bit about their future plans for bringing television programing to the console. “We started the studio a year and half ago focused on premium television experiences. What differentiates us is not only setting the bar high as far as what we hope to accomplish with the content that we’re producing, but hopefully producing content that people actually want to interact with and developing features to support that.” They said.

While many people already have access to a multitude of streaming TV content (via services like Hulu and Netflix), Levin explained that it’s the Xbox One’s unique hardware features and next-gen tech that will set their device apart from its competitors. Levin called it a “…unique experience” because the “technology piece of this is not simply a back-end piece, it’s not about how video gets into the home, it’s not about how video gets discovered or curated, although that’s a piece of it. It’s really about how technology works hand-in-hand in the development process to create an experience that extends beyond just a passive, traditional one and starts to offer some great interactivity.”

The new line-up coming to Xbox will include a live action show based on the graphic novel Winterworld, Extraordinary Believers (from the creators of Robot Chicken ) and a new Halo series (backed by Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg); just to name a few.
