Nintendo Dishes Various 3DS Game Details

None

While much of Nintendo’s E3 press event was dedicated to the Wii U, the company made sure not to completely neglect the future of its 3DS handheld. During the conference, the Big N managed to divulge a small bit of information about some of the 3D portable’s biggest upcoming games before the more 3DS-centric event tomorrow.

First up was New Super Mario Bros. 2, which will continue the 2D Mario platfoming action on August 19. Nintendo has highlighted that gold coins will have a particularly significant function this time around, but the game generally appears to adhere to the standard side-scrolling Mario formula.

Next, the Paper Mario franchise will be coming to the 3DS in the form of Paper Mario: Sticker Star. The key in that one will be, you guessed it, stickers, which Mario and company can use as battle commands. The Hammer Sticker uses the hammer, the Stomp Sticker stomps, and so on. Expect that game this holiday season.

Mario’s little bro will be dropping in on 3DS as well, as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon continues the Luigi’s Mansion franchise in all the usual ways. Featuring a mission-based challenge mode and a variety of ghost-hunting missions, Dark Moon will also be coming this holiday.

Furthermore, a brief trailer highlighting a variety of upcoming third-party 3DS titles included games such as Castlevania: Mirror of Fate, Disney’s Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Scribblenauts: Unlimited, and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, so 3DS owners can expect those sometime soon as well.
