Nintendo Excludes Smash Bros. from Youtube Partnership Program

Nintendo Excludes Smash Bros. from Youtube Partnership Program

Nintendo’s controversial new Youtube partnership program is making some people very happy and some people very mad. Either way, Nintendo just made a move that is sparking yet more controversy in the gaming world. It has excluded all Smash Bros . games from the partnership program.

Here is a short rundown of the program. It used to be that Nintendo would take all the ad revenue from Youtube videos featuring its content. Now, however, it has established a partnership program that, if you allow your videos to be pre-screened and follow very strict guidelines, will allow you to take a cut of the revenue for yourself.

However, Nintendo has just excluded what is arguably the most popular Nintendo franchise from the lineup of eligible games. There are a ton of Smash Bros . Youtube videos out there, from strategy guides to tournament recordings. Unfortunately, this doesn’t just apply to Smash Bros. 4 . It applies to all Smash games, including Melee, which still has a huge following.
