Nintendo Making Changes in Bravely Second for Westerners

Nintendo Making Changes in Bravely Second for Westerners

Destructoid caught on to a very interesting rumor being circulated about the impending, western release of Bravely Second. It seems like one of the job classes, a Native-American themed class called “Tomahawk” could be replaced by a more familiar cowboy class. This is the latest in a trend of adjustments Nintendo has been making for westerners: the latest Fatal Frame had some risqué outfits replaced with Zelda and Zero Suit Samus costumes, character creation options in Xenoblade Chronicles that allowed for chest tweaking were removed, and now we have this class alteration.

The female tomahawk getup doesn’t seem too racy to me, rather rumor has it that Nintendo is making the change because some might find the stereotypical Native American regalia offensive. On the other hand, it seems more offensive to me personally that in a country in which natives were violently purged, their likeness will also be removed in the localization process of Bravely Second and replaced with a cowboy. Could this totally backfire?
