Nintendo Releases Statement Addressing Switch Scarcity

Nintendo Releases Statement Addressing Switch Scarcity

The Nintendo Switch has been a measurable success, but that doesn’t mean it’s flying off the shelves constantly. In what’s probably an obvious statement, the Switch has been the subject of a global shortage since the new console launched. Shipments are selling out all over the place as soon as they’re coming in, and retailers like GameStop are trying to push things like bundles to have more control over the situation. Today, Nintendo of Japan released a statement acknowledging the shortage issue and alluding to plans to continue addressing the matter.

Per GameSpot, the statement includes a corporate-style apology from Nintendo, noting that while meeting demand has been a struggle, units have been shipped out on a weekly basis. Nintendo also suggests things will ramp up towards the latter half of the year, particularly with the upcoming Splatoon 2 bundle.

A translated excerpt from the statement reads, “For autumn and beyond, we will continue to work to ensure that as many products as possible can be delivered to our customers towards the end of the year.” Hopefully, this means we’ll begin seeing more consoles after August!
