The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Cheats & Cheat Codes for PC

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the latest mainline entry to the iconic fantasy RPG franchise, developed and published by Polish studio CD Projekt Red. Released initially on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, the game has recently made its way onto Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The re-releases are a testament to its enduring popularity, with the 2015 title still a genre high for many gamers out there.

In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you play through the game as Geralt, a powerful monster-hunter known as a Witcher. The game follows Geralt as he looks to protect those he cares for the most against a spectral enemy faction known only as the Wild Hunt. Geralt spends the bulk of the game on a hunt of his own, searching for Ciri, his adopted daughter.

The open world you explore is divided into different regions, but each offers plenty of secrets to discover. With hundreds of sidequests and plenty of branching narrative trees, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is centered around your impact on the world around you, and it goes to great lengths to ensure everything you do matters in some way.

As a role-playing game, the characters are absolutely essential to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt experience. Every decision you make affects their eventual fate, and you must think carefully before each major choice. While freedom of choice is nothing new for RPGs, such strong consequences for your actions might come as a shock to some players. These are the main players at the center of it all:

  • Geralt of Rivia: As a Witcher, Geralt usually patrols the world keeping it safe from its dangerous monsters, and helping those in need. But in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt faces a more personal quest. He spends the game in a race against the Wild Hunt to locate Ciri, with the player in control of his every move.
  • Ciri: Ciri is a Witcher, just like Geralt. Her impact in this game is felt more when she’s not there, with her whereabouts shrouded in mystery a majority of the time. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also offers several flashback sequences, in which you’ll get to play as Ciri, with her own unique set of combat mechanics to freshen up the experience.
  • Yennefer of Vengerberg: As one of the two main love interests in the game, Yennefer serves as a mother figure to Ciri. She helps you on your quest to find the young Witcher, and plays a crucial role in the fight against the Wild Hunt.
  • Triss Merigold: Triss makes her return in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as the leader of the mage underground. While her role is reduced in the main story this time around, she’s a brilliant second love interest and a great inclusion for fans of The Witcher lore.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Titles in the Series

When The Witcher was first released in 2007, no one could have predicted how wildly popular the games would become. Based on the novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski, it now stands as one of the great fantasy franchises. Developer CD Projekt Red had never even developed a game before, and was solely a Polish translator for other video game companies. To its credit, the studio has never really tried to cash in on The Witcher‘s popularity with cheap tie-ins, instead focusing on high-quality titles worth of the series name.

The in-game console is your best friend in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

As is becoming increasingly common these days, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt doesn’t feature official cheat codes. Instead, if you want to use cheats in the game, you’ll have to use the in-game console, which unfortunately isn’t enabled by default. Before we begin, we’ll show you how to enable the console in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt:

[lasso rel="amzn-meta-quest-3-128gb-breakthrough-mixed-reality-powerful-performance-asgards-wrath-2-bundle" id="175390"]
  1. Right-click The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Steam, and press “Manage”, and “Browse Local Files.”
  2. Go through the folders “bin,” “config,” and “base,” where you’ll find the general.ini file. Open it with Notepad.
  3. Write “DBGConsoleOn=true” at the bottom of the file on a brand-new line (no quotations).
  4. Save the file, and close it.
  5. Run the game.
  6. While in-game open the console using F2.

Now you’re ready to use the console commands to cheat in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Sadly, like many games with an in-game console, it’s only possible to use on PC. If you’re a console player, there’s no way for you to cheat in the game, and you’ll have to explore its offerings as CD Projekt Red intended.

There are just a few unanswered questions about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cheat codes.

Can You Max Out Geralt In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?

If you want to max out Geralt using cheats, the game’s normal level cap still applies. In the base game, this level cap sits at 70, which can take an awful lot of gameplay to reach normally. However, if you pick up the enormous Blood and Wine expansion, this goes up considerably to 100.

If you’re going to max out Geralt using cheats, consider turning on the Enemy Upscaling option. This will make sure that the game remains somewhat challenging even at higher levels. If you’re specifically cheating for an easier ride, of course, leave this option turned off.

What Are The Most Important Cheats in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?

The answer to that question depends entirely upon what you’re looking for from the game. If you’re looking to experience its incredible story, the invincibility cheat could be exactly what you’re looking for. That way, you don’t have to worry about losing lots of progress upon death. The glossary unlock cheats would also be ideal for this kind of playthrough, as you’d be able to look through them at your own pace, without having to actually discover them in-game.

If you want the game to just be a little easier, you could use the additem and addmoney commands to give yourself a little leg up. Nothing too game-breaking – just enough to be a helping hand.

How Do I Activate The Cheat Menu in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?

If you’ve followed our guide above, you’ll know how to ensure the in-game console is enabled. This is essentially your cheat menu, and can usually be activated by pressing F2. However, if for some reason you can’t use F2, you can also use the @ and # keys to bring up the console.
