Nintendo Spending Big Bucks On New HQ

Nintendo Spending Big Bucks On New HQ

None

Nintendo is serious about its Research and Development. It’s like the Apple of the video game world, always the first to do something new and innovative. For example, the N64 had the first modernized analog stick, and the Wii had the first modernized instance of motion control. The Wii U? There is more new technology in that thing than I can fit into one article.

As more proof that Nintendo is committed to their R&D, they will be building a new R&D facility near their headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. Originally, it seemed Nintendo would be spending the equivalent of $150 million on the compound, but it now appears as if they have upped the construction cost to $204 million. This is on top of the original $158 million price tag of the land they will be building the compound on.

Construction on the compound is expected to begin in January 2012, and Nintendo expects the facility to be completely up and running by the end of 2013. This would be just in time for them to design video game brain implants, and, oddly enough, would still be before the projected release date of the next Sony and Microsoft consoles.
