The Wii U is coming out next year, allowing Nintendo to finally catch up with the other hardcore gaming consoles. Not only will the Nintendo brand be known for awesome casual games and innovation, but also as the console to go to for your pro-gaming fix, just like it was in the age of the Super Nintendo. Unfortunately, Battlefield 3 is not one of the games we’ll be seeing on the console.

In fact, it turns out that there is nothing planned for Battlefield on the Wii U at all. The only thing that was said was, DICE was looking into what can be done on Nintendo’s upcoming console. Even if they do decide to go through with these plans, it’s unlikely that they will be bringing a Battlefield 3 port over.



Let’s look on the bright side, though. The Battlefield team is actually saying they wouldn’t port Battlefield 3 because they can do something even cooler with the Wii U’s controls. DICE’s Patrick Liu had this to say. “I’m a big fan of Nintendo myself, just looking at what they’ve done with the Wii and the Wii U, but we have to come up with something that really uses their controls. And until we get that bright idea of what to do with the new controls I don’t think there’s any point in making another version that’s just the same as everyone else. It probably wouldn’t be Battlefield 3 anyway because the Wii U is so far out.”

Might the Wii U version of Battlefield be even better than Battlefield 3? I hope so.
