No Multiplayer For Darksiders II?

No Multiplayer For Darksiders II?

None

Early in the development process of Darksiders II, there were rumors going around that the game would feature some sort of multiplayer mode. Now, Darksiders II is closer and closer to coming out, but it appears as if multiplayer just isn’t going to happen this round.

Marvin Donald, director of the Darksiders II project recently elaborated on the myriad of issues the design team had when faced with the challenge of integrating multiplayer into the original Darksiders. “It’s just too much work when you’re starting a brand new studio with a new [intellectual property] and you’re building your own technology. We’re also evolving the series into more of [a role-playing game], which was something else we wanted to do from the beginning, but we just didn’t have the resources or time or money to do it the first time around and do it justice.”

Now it is looking like Darksiders II also won’t have multiplayer, but Donald is hopeful that later iterations in the franchise will be able join the multiplayer world. “I hope the next one’s co-op, but it just depends on the resources that are available, the size of the budget, and whether or not Darksiders II does well.”
