Now You Can Control Dead Space 3 With Expletives

Steve Papoutsis, the Executive Producer for Dead Space 3, recently talked with CVG about his upcoming game. During the interview, Papoutsis spilled the beans about some of the nifty Kinect features. Now, we’ve seen some pretty cool features in games like Mass Effect 3 or Madden, but never before has profanity been featured. As with the former titles, you can use voice commands to give your co-op partner extra ammo and other helpful items. Plus, Dead Space 3 won’t feature any gesture-based commands. Thank bloody goodness.

There will be, as I mentioned, gestures through profanity. Papoutsis explains:

“We actually have some commands that people will need to figure out. But there are commands where you might be in a certain situation and you might yell a specific expletive and it might behave in a way that you want it to. We definitely have done some things there..”

So there you go. Screaming like a little girl might help you in Dead Space 3.

In addition, Papoutsis mentions how the development team was able to balance the game play around whether or not players will have a real co-op partner:

“So one of the simple things we’ve done is, in single player you do an action, one action, while in co-op maybe you have to TK something up while I do another action.”

Oh, and apparently the game will still be scary.

As the game’s release draws closer, we begin to learn more and more about Dead Space 3. Let the hype train begin.
