Official Story Details of New Gotham Series Released

The upcoming Gotham TV show is sure to be a hit with bat-fans (providing we don’t end up with another Birds of Prey on our hands). As casting and production rolls on, the studio has released the official story breakdown of the core plot.

The synopsis calls the show an origins tale, that will give us an inside look at the streets of a corrupt Gotham during the time period involving James Gordon’s earlier years. While we won’t see many familiar villains from the gallery of rogues just yet, we will see the ground work being lain for their appearances later on. “Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner…and what circumstances created…the larger-than-life personas…Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?” it reads.

Much of the primary cast has already been announced, with Donal Log (of Sons of Anarchy ) being cast as Harvey Bullock from the Animated Series, Ben McKenzie as young James Gorden (of Southland ) and Jada Pinkett Smith as crime boss Fish Mooney. The show will expand on the seedy underbelly of Gotham, from politics to organized crime. However, not to worry; they don’t plan to omit the obvious inclusion of one of the most important citizens of Gotham. The release assures us that it will also “…focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune…a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he’s destined to be.”

No firm release date yet, but the show will debut on the FOX Network.
