Okami DS Confirmed

Okami DS Confirmed

None

Last week, 7-Eleven leaked a release list of a game called Okamiden.  Many figured this meant that a next-gen sequel to the PS2 clssic, Okami, was in the works.

As it turns out, that conjecture was mostly right.  Okamiden: Chisaki Taiyou was officially revealed via Famitsu magazine.  The title will be a follow up to the original game, but instead of launching for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, Capcom is bringing it to the DS.

Okamiden will have players taking control of a new wolf character called Chibiterasu.  If you don’t have any handle on Japanese whatsoever, know that this new hero is a puppy version of the Celestial Brush-wielding canine of the original, Amaterasu.

According to IGN’s John Tanaka, ” Okamiden follows the events of the original Okami by a few months, in a world now restored to peace. Issun, Amaterasu’ guide from the original, accompanies Chibiterasu to Sakuya, the girl who called Okami to the world in the original.”

Naturally, the DS stylus is a natural fit for the Celestial Brush, and players can look forward to fighting and painting their way through the lush world – taking on monsters and puzzlesolving throughout.

Okamiden will release in Japan at an unspecified date in 2010.
