Pay-to-Win Fears Surface Around Star Wars Battlefront 2

Pay-to-Win Fears Surface Around Star Wars Battlefront 2

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is one of the most anticipated upcoming games. It’s going to release sometime in November, and even if it’s almost the exact same thing as the original, fans are still excited. There’s one recently realized difference in Star Wars Battlefront 2 however that has people taking a step back. It has to do with loot boxes.

The loot box system was recently revealed in some gameplay footage that was released online. Through confirmation from EA, the video does in fact show Battlefront 2 ‘s loot system as it will appear in game. There will supposedly be plenty of opportunity to earn loot crates through gameplay, but players can also buy them using real money.

Contained within the Star Wars Battlefront 2 booty boxes are Star Cards. Some of these can give you more health, boost your damage, or grant a healing effect to nearby team mates. Obviously this immediately raises a concern of a pay-to-win type structure emerging quickly within the game. Most are saying that because Star Wars Battlefront 2 will have ever-free updates, this system makes sense within the game because they have to make money somewhere.

What do you think? Is the pay-to-win fear real?
