Penny Arcade Gets Movie Deal

Penny Arcade Gets Movie Deal

None

We live in a strange time. Case in point, a one-off Penny Arcade comic is getting a movie deal.

Last October, Mike and Jerry of Penny Arcade fame mixed things up by doing a series of three mini-stories instead of their usual one-shot genital-punching gags. The best received was “The New Kid,” a story about a child who is being forced to move for his father’s career—into space! He finds himself as the new kid on the block on a planet with three-fourths the gravitational pull of earth.

That was where the Penny Arcade story ended, but it was where the movie pitch began. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Paramount has purchased the rights to this mini-comic and has assigned Gary Whitta, famous for The Book of Eli , to do the script. Mary Parent and Cale Boyter of Disruption Entertainment will be producing.

I’m glad that Gabe and Tycho got a movie deal, but this isn’t really the plot I was looking for. I mean, when are we going to see the Fruit F*&%#r movie?
