Poise Is Working as Intended in Dark Souls III

Poise Is Working as Intended in Dark Souls III

People are a little upset about Dark Souls III’ s poise stat, because it isn’t working the same way it did in the first two games. In earlier entries, pumping points into it would allow you to not be knocked back or staggered when assaulted. This would allow you wear heavy armor, take a hit, and not see combos halted. In Dark Souls III, it doesn’t seem to offer a constant benefit, and From Software says that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

Kotaku asked From Software for a response to people’s concerns that Dark Souls III’ s poise wasn’t granting them proper grace under pressure. The company says it is working, and elaborated by saying, “The stat works differently than in past games and is more situational, which seems to be the reason for the confusion.” Kotaku also noted that people who did prefer the previous poise can equip the Heavy Caestus, with its perseverance, to replicate the past experience.

This means people need to learn how poise works all over again. Modding isn’t an option, as Bandai Namco is pretty serious about banning people from playing online if they alter the Dark Souls III experience on PCs. How do you feel about the way poise works now? I think the previous, proper poise was best.
