Portable Steam Machine Priced and Dated

The Smach Zero, a portable console that runs Steam and Steam games, has just been given a price and a release window. Previously known as the Steam Boy, the Smach Zero will launch in the fourth quarter of 2015, with pre-orders opening on November 10 of this year. The console will cost $299 if you preorder it, but that price will go up if you wait to pick it up from store shelves.

The Smach Zero looks a lot like a PS Vita. It has a screen in the middle, a touch pad for directionals on either side, and four face buttons underneath each touch pad. The touch pads can be calibrated to act as either directional keys or a mouse, and the buttons can be mapped to anything you like. The device has 4GB of RAM, a 720p touchscreen, HDMI output, bluetooth, wifi, and 32GB of internal storage. It’s overall power in reference to Steam games, and what Steam games will be playable on it, are still unknown.
