Project X Zone Will Have Over 200 Characters

None

The character count in the crazy crossover beat ‘em up RPG fest, Project X Zone, keeps climbing. The official blog today revealed that the NAMCO Bandai, SEGA, Capcom crossover game will include well over 200 characters, though a final total wasn’t given.

This number includes both allies and named enemies, but not characters that just make appearances in event scenes. In other words, there will be 200 or more characters that you will either control or have to fight against. The blog goes out of the way to mention that enemy characters won’t just be generic in this game. Powerful villains from each company’s many IPs will show up to block your progress.

A small tidbit of gameplay was also revealed. The game will be turn-based, but will also be tactical. When in a battle, players can move their character around the map RPG style while it’s their turn. When doing so, they can open treasure chests, destroy obstacles, and take many other actions, and their movement is unlimited. Their turn only ends when they decide to attack an enemy, at which point the characters are brought to a 2D Tales-like RPG battle system, where fighting game-style commands correspond to attacks in a character’s repitoire.
