PS4’s May Be Sold With Destiny or Diablo In the Future

According to a Baird investors note sent out to recap the events of E3, Sony may be looking into new bundles for the PS4. “One point of interest from our conversations at the show is the possibility that Sony may preload digital copies of Destiny and Diablo on all PS4 consoles beginning this fall (users still can choose whether to purchase), which should drive higher sell-through for Activision, but at the cost of retail sales.”

What’s interesting here is that Sony isn’t including the game as an actual disk, but rather a preload on the harddrive. In addition, it looks like the games won’t be “purchased” just preloaded. For example, the consoles might come with a Destiny or Diablo III demo, but not the full game. But then if you purchase the game off of the PSN, you won’t have the download it because the game is already on your harddrive.

This is also interesting because it basically gets around problems with including a game code with your console, which usually tend to be people who are stuck with slow internet connections and data caps. Activision will also benefit with bundles like these by ensuring that owners will not resell their purely digital game.
