Listen up, this is a Public Service Announcement for all you Sonic Mania fans out there. Or, actually, for anyone unfortunate enough to have missed it so far. Sonic Mania Plus is about to drop in less than a month, on July 17, 2018. This release, retailing for $29.99, takes the instant classic that was Sonic Mania and adds even more to it. In addition to that, it’s also the first physical disc release of Sonic Mania , which comes with its own set of rad goodies.
If you pre-order Sonic Mania Plus, you get the Collector’s Edition of the game. The game itself comes in a holographic case slipcover, and the case can be reversed to some brand new art based on classic Sega Genesis games. It also comes with a 32-page art book and, for a game that looks like Sonic Mania, you know that’s going to be worth flipping through.
Of course, it’s not just about getting new stuff to litter your gaming area with. Sonic Mania Plus also introduces two new playable characters, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. Angel Island Zone will be added as a new level, competition mode is expanded to four players, and the boss difficulty has been balanced a bit. There’s also a new Encore Mode, which mixes up the levels and allows the player to swap characters under certain conditions mid-game.
