Quantum Conundrum Teams Up With A President

From Jim Guthrie’s acclaimed score for Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP to HEALTH’s killer work with Max Payne 3, collaborations between video games and popular, commercially successful musicians have been all the rage these days. Today, Square Enix has followed suit, announcing that Grammy-nominated artist Chris Ballew is providing the score for their upcoming first-person puzzler, Quantum Conundrum.

Ballew, perhaps best known as the lead singer/bassist for the alternative rock group The Presidents of the United States of America, is a singer-songwriter of children’s tunes, performing under the stage name Caspar Babypants. With Quantum Conundrum’s apparently family-friendly art direction and tone, the pairing seems to be an appropriate fit.

“I like making music for kids because I admire their inventive imaginations, and as an adult I nurture that same creativity in myself,” said Ballew. “The gameplay, humor, and art style in Quantum Conundrum embodies that same sentiment.”

Players won’t have to wait long to check out the soundtrack for themselves, as Quantum Conundrum will be releasing on Steam this Thursday, June 21, with XBLA and PSN releases coming later this summer. Those who want to purchase the soundtrack separately can pre-order the game through Steam using the “Season Pass” option and receive the game’s first two DLC packs as well.
