Recently, word started circulating that another Fallout title had been trademarked in both Germany and UK. This supposed Fallout game, titled “ Fallout: Shadow of Boston ”, with the holder’s name being Bethesda Software, the publisher that brought out Fallout 3 .
Whilst the paperwork looked plausible, a lot of Fallout fans were skeptical about the trademarks, suspecting them of being fake. Their cautioned payed off, as Bethesda later confirmed via its official Twitter account that the trademarks are indeed fake.
“ The German trademark filing that’s making the rounds is a hoax, ” Bethesda announced. “ This didn’t come from our offices. ”
Curiously, the UK trademark wasn’t mentioned in any of Bethesda’s tweets thereafter. Perhaps that’s because the German trademark has been circulation more prominently than the UK trademark, letter the latter slip by unnoticed. Speculation aside, a Fallout game going by the title Fallout: Shadow of Boston is confirmed not to be a thing.
