Remastered Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Coming to Android and iOS

Remastered Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Coming to Android and iOS

Fans of our little blue hedgehog friend may be happy to hear that a remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be dropping on both Android and iOS devices tomorrow, and will feature the game’s allegedly long-lost level Hidden Palace Zone.

Hidden Palace Zone was cut from Sonic 2 during the game’s development, and was meant to be the place where Sonic would transform into Super Sonic once collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds. Scraps of the level allegedly resurfaced in the prototype of Sonic 2 , which was distributed as a downloadable ROM, becoming quite the topic to discuss and speculate over between Sonic fans.

This remastered version of Sonic 2 was created by Sonic Retro members Simon Thomley and Christian Whitehead, whose work is allegedly renowned for including cut and / or lost content in modern Sonic ports to mobile devices. For example, Whitehead’s recent Sonic the Hedgehog port for mobile devices is said to include an expanded debug mode, which in turn gave players access to otherwise unavailable or never-before-seen content that was cut from the original game.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will drop with Hidden Palace Zone included for Android tomorrow, and the Hidden Palace Zone level itself will drop as a free update for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 port already available on iOS tomorrow as well.
