Sonic 4: Episode II Details Revealed At PAX

Sonic 4: Episode II Details Revealed At PAX

None

A host of new Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II info came out of the SEGA booth at PAX this weekend. First of all, the game was given a release date. The PSN version will be coming out on Tuesday, May 15th, while the XBLA version will be hitting downloadable markets on the 16th. iOS and PC versions will both be hitting sometime later in May, while the Android port will be hitting in June, and the Windows Phone version will release in July.

SEGA also revealed that the lock-on technology of the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge is back, in digital form. If you previously purchased Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I, it will “lock on” to Episode II to create one huge game. It will also unlock “Episode Metal” a brand new chapter of Sonic 4: Episode I that allows you to play as Metal Sonic. It follows Metal after the events of Sonic CD, and shows how he was resurrected in Sonic 4. Metal comes with his own unique skills and abilities (which unfortunately have not yet been revealed) and four new levels as well.

In Sonic 4: Episode II, the second player can play as Tails, much like you could in old school Sonic games. However, unlike old school Sonic games, Tails is no longer immortal. If Tails dies, Sonic loses a life. So the second player will have to work hard to keep up.
