A father in British Columbia contacted police after discovering that his twelve-year old daughter was receiving sexually explicit messages from a man she’d met playing Resident Evil 5 co-operatively online. The father stated that the messages initially came through the PlayStation 3, but apparently the alleged pedophile elected the message to the girl using a laptop. At this point the father interceded and the unnamed male became antagonistic. The sexually explicit content that followed was not directed at his daughter, the father stated, but disturbed the father enough that he contacted the police.  Upon further investigation, the father discovered that the man, who’d apparently been carrying on a conversation with his daughter by email for two months, was allegedly a 22-year old male from overseas. Police are currently investigating the incident. Resident Evil 5, released in early 2009, is rated Mature. |
