Oh my god, how our standards have fallen. Sonic Team and Sega have recently revealed the newest Sonic the Hedgehog game that they are working on. It’s called Sonic Runners and it’s an infinite runner. Well, a pseudo infinite runner.
But don’t count this game out yet. Look at how traditionally Sonic it is! It’s 2D. It involves holding on to rings. You need to go fast through stages and jump on enemies and defeat bosses. It feels a lot like classic Sonic games of yore. The only difference is that Sonic automatically runs to the right. There are still goal rings to reach and stages to memorize, you just only have one function: jump.
Sonic Runners is using older Sonic models, pre- Sonic Boom . It will be a free to play game and will be supported by premium item purchases. You will be able to use a variety of different characters, each with their own unique abilities. Tails can fly, for example. A variety of power-ups from past Sonic games like wisps, shields, and even the Chao will also make an appearance.
Honestly, it’s a game where Sonic runs fast. That’s all I want now. Anything has to be better than Sonic Boom , and since Sega has recently announced they will be pushing toward mobile games in the future , this might be the best Sonic can get.
