Stand back Virtual Console, SEGA has announced the development of the SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Mega Drive moniker implies a Euro release, but the presser insists the game will release worldwide early in 2009. The game pack will feature more than 40 16-bit titles, including “Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3, Columns, Alien Storm, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier, and Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3.” Moreover, the games will be mildly re-mastered and transmit in 720p.
