Sigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriguez, and Stephen Lang have all signed on to do voice over work for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game. Avatar is the collaboration of James Cameron and Ubisoft. The game further fleshes out the conflict between aggressive human expansionists and their pursuit to conquer a “savage” race of aliens known as the Na’vi on a far off planet. Your path through the world is your own, and Cameron’s cinematic direction along Ubisoft Montreal’s craft should make it an impressive title. Add to that top voice talent, and we should be in for a great story.
Press Release: July 24, 2009 – SAN FRANCISCO – Today Ubisoft announced that Hollywood actress Sigourney Weaver will voice the role of Dr. Grace Augustine for Ubisoft’s video game, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game. Weaver’s character will be featured in the versions of the game released on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, Wii system from Nintendo and PC. Other actors from the film that will appear in the game include Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi and Stephen Lang. Rodriguez’s character, Trudy Chacon, functions as the player’s chopper pilot throughout the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 system and PC versions of the game. Ribisi reprises his role as the arrogant Parker Selfridge, appearing exclusively in the Wii version of the game. The film’s antagonist, Col. Quaritch, played and voiced by Lang, will appear in the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 system and PC versions. “We are very excited to have actors from the film provide voiceover work for the different versions of the video game,” said Patrick Naud, executive producer for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game. “Having the characters from the film voiced by the actors that portrayed them appear in the game adds a level of authenticity you just can’t get any other way.” James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game will be available this Holiday season 2009 for Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 system, Wii, PC, PSP (PlayStation Portable) system, and Nintendo DSi system.
