Ready to embrace virtual reality in all of its forms? Head to Six Flags New England. That theme park now has Superman The Ride Virtual Reality Coaster. It’s a roller coaster where everyone who boards also dons a Samsung Gear VR headset to really get in the Superman mindset.
This means people get to see Lex Luthor and his Lexbot assault the city as they go through the ride. Six Flags even put together a side-by-side video so you can see how the reality and virtual reality match up.
I’m a little worried about combining virtual reality with a roller coaster. Here’s why. Roller coasters are already tumultuous experiences that can cause nausea in some people. VR is a a thing that also inspires queasiness. Pairing the two seems like a recipe for disaster. I also hope they do a good job of cleaning those Samsung Gear VR headsets between users!
