Skyrim Is GDC’s Game Of The Year

Skyrim Is GDC’s Game Of The Year

None

Skyrim, the open world RPG from Bethesda, has taken the coveted Game of the Year award. It triumphed over some tough competition, including Batman: Arkham City, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dark Souls, and Portal 2. Its triumph over Portal 2 is particularly surprising, considering that game won three other awards this year including Best Narrative, Best Game Design, and Best Audio.

Wait. So if the gameplay of Portal 2 is the best of the year, and the story is the best of the year, and the audio is the best of the year, then what criteria are left to base Skyrim’s win on? I totally don’t get how these awards work.
