Starbreeze Raided During Insider Trading Investigation

Starbreeze Raided During Insider Trading Investigation

Earlier this week, publisher of the recently-released Overkill’s The Walking Dead , Starbreeze, announced it would be entering a reconstruction stage in order to attempt to financially recover from said game’s poor performance. While the repercussions of that move for the games and developers under Starbreeze are not clear yet, news broke this morning of the Starbreeze office being the subject of an insider trading investigation by the Swedish government.

The Swedish Economic Crime Authority raided Starbreeze’s Stockholm office this morning, and authorities made one arrest and seized several pieces of equipment, including a computer. This raid was apparently one of several, all part of an investigation into Starbreeze.

According to the Swedish outlet breaking the story, both the finance manager and CEO of Starbreeze, whom have left the company as part of the reconstruction, were discovered to have sold their full stakes in Starbreeze last month, just ahead of the reconstruction. Since then, Starbreeze’s stock price dropped by roughly 80%.
