One of Mortal Kombat X’s most interesting systems is the variation system, which allows each character to be played in three different styles. However, if you want to, you can completely forgo that system.
First, you need to be playing with cursor hiding on. Then, all you have to do is press the settings button (triangle or the y button depending on your console) to select your character. This loads your character, but doesn’t add any of his or her variation moves. This could be considered the most “pure” form of the character.
Of course, playing without a variation leaves you without a lot of tools any opponent with a variation would have access to, so it’s probably not going to be a popular option in Mortal Kombat X . But I think it would be interesting to see a no variation tournament at the next big fighting game event.
