Super Street Fighter II Hits Virtual Console… Again

Super Street Fighter II Hits Virtual Console… Again

None

Unfortunately, fighting game fans who own a Wii don’t have a whole lot of choice when it comes to fighting games they can play. They can choose from Super Smash Bros., Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, or the Virtual Console release of Super Street Fighter II. But just to give fans a little bit more diversity, Capcom is letting Wii owners choose from two versions of Super Street Fighter II. The SNES version was released on Virtual Console back in 2008, but soon the Genesis version will be released as well.

What’s different in the Genesis version? Well, back in the day the most standout difference was you had to press the start button to switch between buttons and kicks on your three button controller. However, we have plenty of buttons on our controllers today, so that’s no longer an issue. Instead, the sound is a bit different, there are a few more options in the option mode, and Nintendo has even added online multiplayer to this one. The online element isn’t that much of a stretch, because I seem to remember playing SFII online with XBAND and The Sega Channel back in the day.
