Tatsumi Kimishima Named President of Nintendo

Tatsumi Kimishima Named President of Nintendo

Nintendo is shaking things up. A successor to Satoru Iwata, former president of the company, has been named. Tatsumi Kimishima will take on the role of Representative Director and President of Nintendo on September 16. This follows a tenure in 2002 to 2006, where he was President of Nintendo of America.

This isn’t the only personel change within Nintendo. Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda’s roles have changed within the company. Miyamoto is now the Creative Fellow, rather than a Representative Director and Senior Managing Director, and Takeda is now a Technology Fellow, instead of also holding Representative Director and Senior Managing Director roles. They will be “providing advice and guidance” in their specific fields of specialization starting September 16.

Three other roles were changed. Shigeyuki Takahashi is now a General Manager, Finance Administration Division, Supervisor of General Affairs Division, and in charge of the Quality Assurance Department. Satoshi Yamato has been named General Manager of the Marketing Division and will be in charge of the Advertising Department. Finally, Shinya Takahashi will be taking on roles as General Manager of the Entertainment Planning & Development Division, Supervisor of the Business Development and Development Administration & Support Divisions.
