Team Fortress 2 Launches World War Wendesday

Day Three of the Team Fortress 2 Über Update rolls on with World War Wednesday. Today’s update doesn’t showcase any new maps, but instead gives us a whopping five new soldier items to play around with, and they are all pretty hefty alterations to the Soldier’s standard playstyle.

First up, we have the Mantreads, a pair of boots that reduces knockback from damage by seventy-five percent. These stompers also allow you to fall on an opponent, dealing three times the damage you normally would have taken from the fall. If you ever wanted your TF2 experience to be more like Mario, these are the boots for you.

Next we have the Disciplinary Action, a riding crop that replaces the soldier’s melee weapon. It does twenty-five percent less damage to enemies, but if you strike an ally with it, both you and your ally gain an increase in speed for a short period of time.

The Liberty Launcher is a new rocket launcher for the soldier, which increases rocket speed by forty percent, but only allows you to fire three rockets per clip. Unlike the Direct Hit, your rockets retain all their splash damage, so if you are good at conserving your ammunition, this is the weapon for you.

The Reserve Shooter shotgun not only causes you to switch weapons faster, but also gives you a three second mini-crit on airborne targets for three seconds after you switch. Unfortunately, its clip size is only half that of a normal shotgun, so most of your firing will be done after a quick switch at the right time.

Finally, we have the Market Gardener, another new melee weapon that guarantees critical hits when rocket jumping. Combine these with the Mantreads for one heck of a damaging stomp.
