Tetsuya Nomura Teases TWEWY News

Tetsuya Nomura Teases TWEWY News

None

The World Ends With You (known in Japan as It’s A Wonderful World) bears not only one of the silliest sounding acronyms of all time, but a reputation as an intricate, action-RPG experience that wove adult themes together with Nomura’s colorful and varied character designs to create an incredibly unique and compelling gameplay experience. Since its release in 2008, however, nothing has been said of a potential follow-up, and the game’s characters have faded out of the public consciousness.

Enter Kingdom Hearts 3D and its cameo by some of TWEWY’s characters, including a mute Rhyme. While mute in the game, a post made on FF Reunion and translated by Andriasang reveals that, despite her lack of real voiced content, Rhyme’s role was cast “out of consideration of the future of The World Ends With You series.”

“Future” and “series” are the pertinent words, there. This comes from a section of an interview with Tetsuya Nomura that was in the latest issue of Nintendo Dream, which he ends with the statement that, “Regarding The World Ends With You, I can’t say anything at present… (laughs). But there probably is something.”

What a glorious tease you are, Mr. Nomura.
