The 3DS Gets A Steering Wheel

The 3DS Gets A Steering Wheel

None

Nintendo is like the Fisher-Price of video games. Every time a new console comes out, they market a whole bunch of plastic attachments that screaming children just need to buy. Remember the Wii Wheel? It was just a plastic caddy that you put your Wiimote into, yet you still got one with every copy of Mario Kart Wii, and they sold like hotcakes individually. Then, of course, there were the bargain brand knockoffs and dollar store ripoffs that came after it.

Now that Mario Kart 7 has motion-controlled steering , the same thing is happening for the 3DS. The new peripheral is called the Mario Kart 7 Handle, and it basically just puts your 3DS in the middle of a steering wheel. However, this time around it isn’t being made by Nintendo; it’s being made by Hori, a pretty reputable company when it comes to making things like joysticks or controllers. This, however, looks like a cheap plastic caddy. In fact, it looks like it could make the buttons harder to reach.

If you absolutely need this peripheral, it comes out December 1 in Japan. Feel free to import it, or just wait until its inevitable release here in the States.
