Initially planned to come out in monthly installments, Telltale’s smash-hit, episodic, adventure game based on the original The Walking Dead comic has run into issues in keeping with its original schedule, the third episode already having missed its mid-August release date, but the company has decided to break its silence as of today.
In a new statement, the adventure-game studio states that The Walking Dead: Episode Three – Long Road Ahead has been submitted and they’re merely waiting for a release date to be set. Current speculation, on Telltale’s part, has that date at next week, though they’re cautious to specify that that’s a low-end estimate.
This isn’t Telltale’s first episodic rodeo, but it’s only their second attempt at something that falls on the mature end of the spectrum, following on the execrable Jurassic Park (which was only ever episodic in the most formal sense—the whole sequence was released at once). So far, it’s been a tremendous success in the realm of storytelling. Hopefully we’ll find out if they can keep that up come next week.
