The Week in Review news piece summarizes and highlights the most important gaming related news and rumors over the past week. This weekly article will keep you plugged in and in-tune.

Folks are having fun at PAX East, but no important news has come (or is expected to come) out of the conference. Thankfully, Nintendo made a bit of a splash to keep the week interesting.

Though the DSi XL is just making its way to retail, the Big N has already gone and let it slip that a new portable console will hit retail in the company’s fiscal 2010 year (year ends March 31, 2011). The new portable is tentatively named the Nintendo 3DS. It will feature 3-D technology that doesn’t require glasses, it will include rumble support, it has an analog stick, is backwards compatible with all DS and DSi carts, it has better battery life and improved wireless communications, and it may even feature an accelerometer that will allow you to tilt the device. Nintendo has promised more details at E3 2010.

On the other side of the Pacific, an American company is looking to make waves of its own over in Japan. Epic Games announced that they are going to bring a branch office to Japan in order to better tailor their Unreal Engine 3 toolset to Japanese development studios.

Likewise, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has decided to open up an office of its own in Montreal, Canada. This new branch will distinguish itself by being a comics-specific video game development studio. Warner Bros. plan on expanding the office to 300 employees by 2015 in order to kick out quality superhero video games.

Lastly, it was leaked this week by a SCEE official that LittleBigPlanet 2 is officially in development and will make use of the PlayStation Move. However, Sony has come back to say that they won’t confirm any of the details concerning the title.

Thanks so much everyone and we will see you next week!
