THQ Unveils Metro: 2033 Sequel

None

Metro: 2033 was a little-known game made by THQ in 2010 that had a powerful cult following but never really made it into the blockbuster game spotlight. We never really thought that we would see a sequel, but today, THQ unveiled a trailer for the follow-up, titled Metro: Last Light.

The game is scheduled to release sometime in 2012, and will pick up where 2033 left off. Players will return to post-apocalyptic Moscow, this time in order to fight a civil war. Two factions are battling over a fabled doomsday device that, quite literally, could destroy the entire planet at the push of a button. It’s like the cold war all over again, but much hotter, and it’s up to you to cool it down.

THQ’s Danny Bilson said that Metro: 2033 was a “flawed masterpiece,” but that the sequel will fix those flaws. “This game improves on the original in every way,” he said. “It will have more polish, deeper and more sophisticated gameplay, and satisfyingly visceral combat, without losing what our fans loved about the original.”

We will be able to see our first glimpse of the game next week at E3.
