Three Cameras, Not Enough for the 3DS?

Three Cameras, Not Enough for the 3DS?

None

When it comes to news, Nintendo’s new 3DS is the gift that keeps on giving. With the plethora of features that continue to be revealed for the system, it’s hard to imagine that the system still has anything left to hide. Even so, in a recent interview with Forbes, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata made it known that the 3DS would be capable of allowing for 3D video chat.

Of course, Iwata only said that the system would be technically able to handle 3D video chat, not that it would actually be a possibility. While we know that the design of the 3DS has yet to be officially finalized, with two cameras on the outside of the system and only one camera facing the player, how could one even hope to stand in front of the two cameras necessary to provide 3D video and still hope to see who they are chatting with? It seems like if Nintendo decides to implement a 3D video chat feature, we can expect to see the addition of another camera facing inward on the final system’s design.
