Oh boy, here we go again. Total War: Rome II , which has been out since 2013, has been the subject of a mass review-bombing on Steam. Angry fans have been reaming the game over a “controversy” involving the game including female generals for recruitment.
The matter was largely unnoticed by fans, until a screenshot was posted showing a list of “Available Generals” during gameplay consisted of mostly female options. Paired with a “historical accuracy” comment, the image seemed to go viral. The review bombing followed. These people are accusing the developer of increasing the spawn rate of women generals after a recent update, which is a problem apparently.
Creative Assembly released a statement on the matter, stating that the spawn rate has not changed, the game is working as intended, and so on and so forth. The statement also breaks down the percentage for female generals spawning, with the numbers being quite low and even zero for certain factions.
In sum, much like the Battlefield V thing, historical accuracy is not the “issue” here.
