Twisted Metal Gets A Movie Deal

Twisted Metal Gets A Movie Deal

None

According to a report from Deadline.com, Brian Taylor has been asked to write and direct a big screen adaptation of the Twisted Metal franchise. Many of you may know Taylor as the co-director of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance . I suppose Twisted Metal will fit nicely into his genre of “movies about characters with flaming heads.”

As of now, Sweet Tooth and Dollface have been confirmed to be characters in the movie, but all other plot details are being kept hush hush. Sony has confirmed the existence of the movie but would not talk about any particulars including cast, plot, or release window.

The big question is how do you adapt Twisted Metal for the big screen? The franchise was not particularly known for its award-winning stories. It’s really only about ultraviolent caricatures blowing each other up in the hopes of getting one wish from an ever-present demonic Deus Ex Machina. Then again, if they come at this movie with the requisite level of B-Movie schlock, it might be worth watching just for the action sequences.
