Twitch Adds Chat Replay to Recorded Videos

Twitch Adds Chat Replay to Recorded Videos

Twitch added a feature some people have been requesting. When you watch a recorded video on Twitch, you can now see the chat that was running during the original broadcast. No longer will you wonder why a broadcaster offered such odd responses for no reason. You’ll be able to see the chats that elicited such responses.

Yesterday, Twitch said it will begin chat message capturing from streams and begin adding the option. Within a few weeks, Chat Replay will be rolled out as an option next to a video. Everything should appear exactly as it did during the original stream.

There’s one more feature that broadcasters and moderators will enjoy. People can moderate the chat when it’s being replayed, removing messages they might have missed the first time. Also, messages that were deleted during the original broadcast won’t appear at all.

It also means people who used ReChat probably won’t have to any more. Twitch’s Chat Replay will offer the same features, especially since ReChat’s creator, Nils Caspar, is part of Twitch now.

Who knows what other kinds of features will arrive, now that so many people are into broadcasting and watching livestreams? Perhaps we’ll hear more about the future at TwitchCon 2016.
