Ubisoft Enters The Rhythm Gaming Fray

If you thought the death of Guitar Hero signaled the end of the rhythm game era…think again! Ubisoft just announced Rocksmith, a new IP that will use real guitars as peripherals. Sure, this sounds a lot like the failed Rock Revolution experiment, but Ubisoft said via press release that the game would allow users to play with “any real guitar with a standard quarter-inch input jack.”


Apparently Rocksmith will use a new interface that will teach players how to read music instead of note graphs, and will feature music from David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and Nirvana. Will another rock game with a “realistic” approach be able to bring stability back to the genre Guitar Hero built? We’ll keep you updated…
