Uncharted 3 had an extensive showing during Sony’s E3 press conference. A gameplay demo showed Nathan drake facing a tricky predicament on a large ocean liner. The footage showed off the game’s water effects, which have been a selling point during its early promotion, a hull breach causing water to pour into corridors, creating some dramatic platforming challenges for Drake, who dealt with rushing water, a tipping ship, floating and falling objects, and underwater puzzles requiring him to figure out how to escape without running out of breath in the process. After the demo, it was announced that the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta test will start on June 28, 2011. In addition, there will be a cross-promotion between PlayStation and Subway restaurants this October, which will allow gamers access to the complete, final multiplayer experience in advance of the game’s general release on November 1.  To conclude the E3 presentation, a cinematic trailer of Uncharted 3 was shown in 3D. It introduced gamers to several of the major characters in the game, including a villain who bears an uncanny resemblance to Helen Mirren. It looks like there will be plenty of Indiana Jones-style adventure for Drake in his quest for the “Atlantis of the Sands.” |
