Uncharted Collection Lacks Golden Abyss for Storytelling Reasons

Do you know how many Uncharted games there are? If you answered 4, then I hope you weren’t including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End . There are actually four games leading up to it and starring Nathan Drake, but only three of them will be in the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the PlayStation 4. Uncharted: Golden Abyss is missing, and Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer, Community Strategist, has revealed why.

Meyer spoke at EGX 2015 and revealed why a remaster of the Vita-exclusive Uncharted: Golden Abyss didn’t make it into the game. His exact quote, taken from Power Up Gaming , was “It was definitely under consideration, because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games. But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection , we realised that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4 .” So there you go. It didn’t make sense for the narrative, so it wasn’t added in.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will come to the PlayStation 4 on October 7. If you download it from the PlayStation Store, it will be about 44GB.
