Valve Offers Money Back To Complaining Owners Of From Dust

None

Players who purchased Ubisoft’s From Dust on Steam might finally be able to take a break from posting complaining rants on internet forums. Steam has announced that they will be offering refunds to anyone who might be too impatient to wait for the DRM to be patched-out. The upcoming patch, which was announced earlier this week, would completely remove the DRM, but might not be available for another couple of weeks.

Several Steam users have reportedly received the following email from Valve:

“Ubisoft has just announced that they are working on a patch that will eliminate the need for any online authentication for From Dust. The patch will release in approximately two weeks.

If you don’t want to wait for the patch or if you haven’t played the game, per Ubisoft’s request, we will issue refunds for this title.

If you would still like your purchase of From Dust refunded, please reply to this ticket.”

Both Steam and Ubisoft have reportedly been under a deluge of angry emails regarding the Ubi’s DRM, which requires players to have a constant internet connection. The refund is a distinct shift in philosophy for Valve, who has always had a “no refunds” mentality.
