Valve’s Going Back to Aperture Laboratories

Valve’s Going Back to Aperture Laboratories

OK, before we get into it, this isn’t a Portal 3 announcement.

Ready? OK. Valve makes testing tools for virtual reality headsets. It’s first one was the SteamVR Performance Test , which checked to see if your computer could handle the HTC Vive. The next one is called The Lab and sounds a bit more entertaining.

The Lab is set in Portal’ s Aperture Laboratories. People will go through some VR experiments as part of a VR test. It will officially appear at the 2016 Game Developers Conference March 14-18, but the press release announcing it is out now. We’ll get to see exactly how it works then.

Like the first SteamVR Performance Test, The Lab is designed to help test out the HTC Vive. It’ll be a free download when it’s released in spring 2016. Let’s hope GLaDOS is the test’s host! You know she has more tests to run.
