Video Game Ban Called Over LARP Session

Video Game Ban Called Over LARP Session

None

Four masked men climbed atop the roof of an Abu Dhabi villa recently, brandishing firearms and dressed in camo fatigues and bulletproof vests. Special Forces arrived and quickly arrested the four men, finding that the guns that they were carrying were fake, as were many of the clubs and other bludgeoning weapons they held. After a thorough interrogation, it turns out that the four men were actually just making a video tape of their live action role-playing session.

What can the Special Forces do against this horrible LARPing menace? Well, according to The National, Col. Ibrahim Sultan Al Zaabi is calling on a ban on the import of violent video games to solve the problem. Really.

Zaabi called the display “absurd, childish, and unjustifiable” essentially saying that LARPing itself is something no grown man should do. While I personally might agree with that, calling violent video games the main cause of LARPing is a bit of a stretch.

Zaabi is also calling for a ban on the sale of fake weapons and firecrackers as well. Anything that could make trained Special Forces troops mistake a bunch of geeks for armed assailants is just not cool anymore.
